Spoil your holiday guestsMake your holiday guests feel special

By Mary Carol Garrity

Celebrate the season by adding bits of holiday cheer to the decor. How about placing a small, live evergreen in an elegant cachepot? It will delight your guests, and in the spring you can plant the tree in your garden.Paints, lacquers, inks, gums, resins and cellulose process require isopropanol as a solvent or extracting agent. It is also widely used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries in the manufacture of body lotions, aftershave creams and body rubs. Likewise, because of its inherent antimicrobial properties, it is also a common antiseptic and disinfectant in hospitals, laboratories and other establishments with similar requirements for hygiene and sanitation. So after reminding them that this process was something they had dreamed about for years and it was something they were supposed to be enjoying as much as possible and having fun with it, they relaxed a bit and listened to my suggestions of how to proceed encouraging them to consider three easy tips that anyone taking on a home project, big or small can use.6. Cleaning agent for your sound system - To maintain a good audio performance, you have to clean your interconnect sockets by using Isopropyl alcohol and give your connections a good scrub.Be sure your guest quarters are decorated as beautifully as the rest of your home, so the room doesn't feel like an afterthought. Paint the walls a wonderful, warm color. Replace the standard light fixture with an interesting chandelier. Cover the windows in a treatment that adds interest and ensures privacy. Include a generous sized nightstand, a comfortable chair and a table or luggage stand.I stock my guest bathroom with toiletries. On a bookshelf next to the sink, guests will find an apothecary jar full of cotton balls. On a shelf below that, an old suitcase holds a hair dryer and hygiene products. Next to the suitcase stands a stack of fluffy white towels. On a shelf above the toilet I have Q-tips in a silver- lidded jar and disposable razors in a silver cream pitcher. What do your guests like to do? Surprise them by spotlighting their interests and passions. If your guests are avid readers, stack some great books on a tray by the bed. If they love to shop for clothes or decorate their homes, get the latest editions of your favorite fashion and decorating magazines.1. Ink stain remover - Though many claim to be permanent inks, they are not really as permanent as you might think. Just dab a cotton ball with a generous amount of Isopropyl alcohol and the stain will be coming right off. However, remember to blot the stain in one direction only to prevent it from spreading.8. Insect repellant - Mosquitoes are such nuisance but having Isopropyl alcohol nearby and rubbing a good amount on the bites can bring fast relief. Another thing you can do is mix Isopropyl alcohol, vegetable oil and water. Pour the mixture in a sprayer and use it as an inexpensive but effective insect repellant.7. Remedy for swimmers ear - If you plan a weekend at the beach, dont forget to bring Isopropyl alcohol with you especially if youre someone who easily gets swimmers ears. One of the folk remedies for swimmers ear is a 50-50 solution of Isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar.Who would have known when we began designing our dream house just how many little details we would have to decide on? Did you know we spent an entire week just looking at balusters, banisters, treads and newels? I had no idea what any of these even were before we started all of this except that my grandmother used to let us slide down the banister at her home when we were very small. But growing up in a California ranch style house all on one level, stairs were somewhat novel to me. I really had no idea of everything that goes into putting together a staircase - there is practically a new language to be learned! What exactly did we want? What kind of treads? Iron balusters? Wooden newels? It was all overwhelming. And after listening to them for a bit longer, I understood what they meant, even I felt exhausted just from their recounting all that theyd been going through before coming to see me.Every Christmas, as a girl, my sister and I received pajamas from neighbors who had no children of their own. So giving pajamas has become a holiday tradition in our family.
