WELL, Gimbals Restaurant is certainly different! Described on its website as being eclectic and quirky, it definitely lives up to its description with rustic wooden floors, colourful decor, chandeliers and flickering candles.
The sea bass certainly lived up to expectation and Yvonne's roast chicken thighs proved weightier than expected with plenty of meat to enjoy.One option when looking for the proper chandelier for your home is to travel to home improvement stores that are so numerous these days. Often times they will have a wide selection available that you can purchase and take home that day. If you do not find what you are looking for there, try specialty stores. Items can often be ordered if not in stock. Some allow the customer to design their own to a point.I decided to go 'all veggie' and went for the Open Puff Pastry tart of roasted plum tomatoes, green olive tapendade and hummus, which left Yvonne pondering on the Cajun Roast Chicken thighs with saffron, cranberry and cardamom rice.As with any restaurant, the cost of drinks does bump up the bill and we were a little disappointed that the dish of summer vegetables and potatoes had an extra pounds 3 charge. All age groups too were eating, from young children to the retired. It certainly appears to be a popular spot.Although not a massive menu, it does offer choice for all tastes and is much more affordable than the [sz] la carte options which are many and varied including steaks, guinea fowl, belly pork, scallops, duck and sea bass for more special occasions.Soon we had three clean plates and we were looking forward to our mains.Again all mains were large enough to be satisfying but presented in a contemporary style which delivered on style and taste.However overall, an enjoyable meal in a restaurant which is very different to the norm.In recognition of the foundation's support, the atrium in the new addition, being built next to the theater, will be named Wolk Atrium. The addition is part of the Eastman School's $46.9 million project, which featured major enhancements to the Eastman Theatre's interior last year.'Nice presentation' was our first comment when the plates arrived! My puff pastry veggie option proved delicious with rich deep flavours of roasted plum tomatoes intermingled with two of my all-time favourites of olives and hummus.Pudding options loomed large and we opted for three very different desserts, a sticky toffee pudding with double cream and toffee sauce which would have stuck to anyone's ribs, a delicate concoction of seasonal strawberries and cream, and a praline and vanilla ice cream with toasted almonds and brandy snap.Obliviously, these may need to be ordered and will take some time to receive. Yet another option is finding the proper chandelier from home using the Internet. With so many online retailers at your finger tips, you cannot have a better chance to find the right chandler. Many of these places also offer chandelier shades and even chandelier parts just in case. Having as many options as possible will give you a great opportunity to find just the right one for your home.Choosing mains proved slightly more difficult. Lindsay declared she was sticking to a seafood theme and went for the Seared Sea Bass fillet with crushed Jersey Royals and salsa verde.The theatre will be closed this summer so connections may be made between the theater and the new building on the orchestra, mezzanine and balcony levels.Together with two pals Lindsay and Yvonne, I had chosen to dine out at this small Calderdale restaurant and we were all eager to tuck in, being tempted by the sight of passing platefuls of food coming out of the kitchen. Studying the starter options, we chose three different dishes. Lindsay chose the linguini of smoked salmon, capers and basil. Yvonne opted for olive bread bruschetta of slow roasted garlic Portobella mushrooms and I chose the chilled salad of Feta, pine nuts, broad beans and beetroot with a Seville orange dressing and celery salt croutes.If you are in the market for a chandelier, you will want to shop around to find the right one to fit your home, not only in size and shape, but in style and charm as well.
