OUR PICK: Highland Haven Creekside Inn

If you had a treehouse when you were a kid, it probably couldn't hold a candle to this one in Evergreen - Highland Haven Creekside Inn's newly completed Tree House suite.

- A showpiece chandelier spark-ling with Swarovski crystals."PWP offers unsurpassed creativity and execution in event production, floral design, statement jewelry and accessories," said Monica Scotto-Bruton, president of PWP. "It's a destination for anyone looking to plan an extraordinary event, as well as the fashionable woman, who desires a designer outfit or accessory for a night out."The Tree House was built to be green, using sustainable materials and meeting Energy Star's highest rating. The accommodation has won second place in the 2010 national design competition sponsored by the 2010 SIP (Structured Insulated Panels) School Design Symposium.Joy Harper, The Gazette- A wet bar with teak root sink, LED glass shelf lighting and quartzite stone tile work.Created by owners Gail Riley and Tom Statzell, the 850-square- foot Tree House is built atop 21-foot-high, 36-inch-diameter cedar log structures. The boutique offers an exclusive collection of one-of-a-kind designer jewelry, clothing, handbags and shoes.- Stairways lined with a rare collection of treehouse art. It's the award-winning inn's most extravagant new accommodation - the first freestanding addition in its 32-year history, offering a combination of luxury, romance and nature nestled between two 60- foot blue spruce trees. Now, the approximately 100-square-foot size of Down the Rabbit Hole - which shed all traces of its storage closet past when McDonald decorated it with paintings, clean white shelves and a crystal chandelier - is one of the boutique's biggest draws. The shop, with an annual revenue of about $500,000, has been open 3 1/ 2 years and McDonald says it's busiest on weekends and during the summer, when she catches the Fire Island crowd.Located 30 minutes west of Denver, the inn is known for its exceptional breakfasts and features 18 rooms, suites and cottages, each distinctly appointed in "Colorado chic" decor.- Antique stained glass reclaimed from a Denver mansion."The overhead is low because there isn't a lot of square footage to get rent on," McDonald said.Luckily, her best friend's parents own the Sayville Chocolatier and were willing to rent her the space they were using to store brooms and an old sign. The Highland Haven, celebrating 32 years of continuous operation, earned a coveted Fodor's Choice award for being an industry leader in service, quality and value. The inn was also named one of the Top 10 Most Romantic Inns of the Year by www.iloveinns.com, one of the nation's Top 10 Most Romantic Cottages by Sunset magazine, and Best Bed and Breakfast by Mountain Living magazine.- A canopied king-size bed flanked by aspen logs. For reservations, information and directions, call 1-800-459- 2406 or visit www.highlandhaven.com.Headquartered in Woodbury, Anthony Scotto and his firm also own and operate The Chateau, Fox Hollow and Watermill catering facilities, and The Inn at Fox Hollow.
